Impact in this Role

The Business Operations and Strategy (BOS) team defines the future of Fictiv (an innovative leader in product manufacturing). BOS is the driving differentiator between traditional contract manufacturing and how Fictiv is disrupting & reducing the inefficiencies/prohibitive costs traditionally constraining new product development. The BOS team develops and implements strategic initiatives for Fictiv that improve inefficiencies & productivities by analyzing workflow impact both internal to Operations & key interfacing teams such as: Finance, Sales, Engineering Architecture, and Customer Support.

We’re currently searching for an experienced manager to help drive our organization into the future. From researching progressive systems solutions to evaluating their impact, our ideal candidate is a strategist that can detail executional plans, expertly communicate and influence stakeholders, and construct and analyze meaningful resulting datasets to prove results. They should be wholly committed to the discovery and development of innovative solutions in an ever-changing, fast paced digital landscape.

The BOS Manager role is critical to Fictiv in achieving our stated objectives for Series C funding by streamlining and automating workflows to massively decrease the time from design to delivery of parts, products, and programs. This high-impact, global team is comprised of 10 experts spanning Product Engineering & Manufacturing to Data Analysis to Systems Architecture/Data Integration located in San Francisco and Guangzhou, China.


Areas of Responsibility

Lead business process improvement efforts: Unify Fictiv’s business process architecture, streamline key processes and sub-processes, and proactively identify and execute on measurable areas for improvement.

  • Drive identification of requirements and identify inefficient systems processes through evaluation of data and qualitative user research
  • Define key metrics for business processes and direct data analysts to create data visualization dashboards
  • Create and implement precise management plans for cross-functional initiatives with attention to transparent communication at all levels
  • Collaborate closely with product, sales, finance, and engineering on the development, QA, and release of products to ensure a successful rollout across the entire organization

New market strategy readiness: Drive system and process improvements such that the operations team is ready to fulfill complex Final Assembly Test and Packout (FATP) orders.

  • Guide the fulfillment team to leverage learnings from existing part fabrication and simple assembly orders into actionable insights for complex builds for large bill of materials
  • Collaborate with the strategic sourcing team and the business development team to ensure the organization is equipped to expand to and fulfill orders in new geographies - Japan, Taiwan, Philippines
  • Collaborate with the strategic sourcing team and the business development team to ensure the manufacturing partners are available as we expand to new verticals - medical, aerospace, automotive

Business systems selection and improvement: Lead cross-functional team comprising Sales, Finance, Logistics, Strategic Sourcing, Program Management, and Quality to identify gaps with the current Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) System and select a tool that can meet the needs of all stakeholders.

  • Create hiring plan for an ERP consultant to help decide on and implement an ERP system 

Desired Traits:

  • 5+ years in managing a global team of 5+ individual contributors
  • M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • PMP preferred
  • Tools: Odoo ERP, Salesforce, Sigma Computing
  • Self-starter who’s comfortable with ambiguity and asking questions
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong communication skills - adept at creating visuals to tell a story
  • Comfortable with working on several projects concurrently
  • Excellent at developing executive level presentations and comfortable with delivering
  • Demanding of excellent product output of self and of team members, with attention to detail
