Facilities Engineer at QuantumScape

We’re looking for a proactive, positive, team member, who will quickly establish themselves as the go-to person for all facilities related activities for our growing organization.
The Role:
As our first Facilities Engineer, you will report to our Equipment & Facilities Engineering Manager and be responsible for ensuring seamless coordination and execution of facilities projects & optimization of facilities infrastructure, systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Facilities Project Management Support:
You will partner with your manager to validate project plans; specifications, cost and schedules; by collecting site data related to mechanical, electrical system, plumbing systems, capacity and equipment
You will execute the approved project to budget and schedule, which require you to:
·         Coordinate installation schedules with subcontractors and/or in-house technicians for installations, moves or upgrades and track progress to ensure task deadlines and specifications are met
·         Enforce the implementation of mechanical, electrical and architectural plans and documents
·         Partner actively with internal customers and team members to efficiently coordinate cross-team activities and provide regular progress updates to the project team
·         Identify and help resolve issues affecting project timeline or technical specifications
Facilities Optimization:
You will play a critical role in maximizing uptime and minimize cost by:
·         Monitoring, managing and analyzing BMS system data to identify risk and improvement opportunities
·         Quickly troubleshooting and assessing complexity of facilities issues and determining best course of action. This includes personally fixing the issue or evaluating and selecting a contractor to resolve the issue.
·         Generating and updating PM plans and then managing equipment & facilities systems maintenance contractors to ensure quality and timely execution of PMs
·         Maintaining and/or implementing improvements to facilities related processes, documentation and communication. i.e. preventative maintenance schedules and logs, SOP’s, reporting
·         Developing budgets and estimate costs for repair and minor construction projects, furniture system installations, and office relocations.
·         Managing and monitoring cost and performance of existing facilities contractors to ensure office and lab areas are maintained to standards and well stocked.
·         Evaluating and selecting secondary sources for facilities and trades contractors for time-critical facilities issues
Our ideal team member will have:
·         An ASET degree and HVAC certification
·         At least 5 years of professional experience in roles where you developed facilities management and maintenance expertise within R&D lab, manufacturing and office and amenities
·         Hands on experience in electrical, plumbing & HVAC systems maintenance to support our facilities systems: CDA, gas delivery, chillers, process cooling water (PCW), chilled water, dehumidifiers, power delivery, vacuum pumps, lighting, hazmat storage
·         Successfully executed at least three projects requiring external coordination across trades and internal cross-team collaboration
·         Experience reading and interpreting architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings and plans
·         Experience using MS Office applications & BMS systems. Experience using Sharepoint and MS Project is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
·         You are approachable and communicate openly and professionally across all levels within the organization
·         Able and willing to personally fix low complexity facilities issues (bulb and ballast changes, projector bulk changes, simple plumbing fixes, etc) to ensure quick closure of facilities issues
·         You are safety focused and perform all work in accordance with safety policies and procedures
·         Demonstrated ability to manage your time effectively is critical for success in this role 
Physical Requirements:
·         Requires extensive fine finger dexterity, including simple and firm grasping, fine manipulation and repetitive movements, including typing, and using hand tools.
·         Frequently requires standing and walking for extended periods of time
·         Occasionally requires climbing to work in elevated positions and lifting from floor, waist-level, or overhead materials weighing from 10 to 50 pounds
