The Role:

 We are looking for a quality manager to lead and grow the ThoughtSpot quality team based out of  Bangalore. In this role you would champion the cause of quality for Thoughtspot BI product. You will hire, groom, mentor and manage a group of talented software engineers in test who will work across multiple components of our deep technical stack to develop critical test frameworks and tools, defining approaches and practices that bring quality further upstream, and empower feature teams with actionable data that keeps quality top of mind. We will need someone who is technically strong, is passionate about quality, caring deeply about our product and our customers.

 

 Responsibilities:

 

 

Hire the best talent to grow the quality team and provide technical guidance, career development and mentoring to the team.

  • Be a quality thought leader in best practices around test planning, frameworks and test execution, helping and enabling the broader development team to make software releases at predictably quick cadence and measurably good quality.
  • Imagine, architect, develop, deploy, and evolve CI/CD for the next disruptive data analytics platform
  • Collaborate with product management, customer success team and support team to identify customer use case nuances and issues and bring them in the testing scope early in the development cycle.
  • Take ownership of maintaining, updating, and troubleshooting our existing structures and processes to left shift quality operations.

 

 

Required Skills:

 

 

  • Builder mindset. Must have built a quality team in the past and helped scale quality organizations in product facing roles.
  • Expertise in test engineering processes and methodologies e.g. test planning, test framework/infrastructure test case management, code coverage and defect analysis. Planning, designing, implementation and use of automated test suites including open source and commercial tools
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering best practices including coding standards, code reviews, SCM, CI, CD, build processes, branch strategies and operations. Skilled in modern CI processes and tools.
  • Leadership, coaching and mentoring in a dynamic fast paced product development environment.
  • Excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills

 

Bonus Skills:

 

  • Has built at least one such Product, Framework or Service Hands-On, and lead a team of engineers technically in such an effort.
  • Previous working knowledge of the domain/industry and familiarity with distributed systems and databases from an application development and testing perspective.
  • Experience in Engineering Infrastructure with latest cloud native technologies like Containers (Docker), Kubernetes, Public Cloud ( AWS/GCP/Azure) APIs, etc.

 

Experience:

  • 10+ years of software quality engineering experience, preferably working with geographically distributed teams and infrastructure in a high release velocity startup environment for product facing roles.
  • Masters/Bachelors degree required in Computer Science, Software (or related) Engineering, or equivalent experience.
