Messenger is one of the most popular products in the world for people to connect and interact. It is used by over 1.3 billion people monthly for text/photo/video messages, audio/video calls, connecting with businesses, interacting with a thriving ecosystem of third party automated experiences and much more.

We’re looking for an experienced marketing leader to lead and manage a product marketing pillar focused on establishing Messenger as a safe, private, and trustworthy platform for our users. They will be responsible for driving awareness, adoption, and engagement for Messenger’s privacy and integrity features including Block/Report threads and new Privacy Settings like block/mute/hide threads, privacy settings, as well as risk mitigation and response plans as needed. Specifically, this leader and team is responsible for working with Product and the broader marketing team to develop launch narratives, shape and execute go-to-market launches and ongoing engagement strategies - including generating insights to inform launch strategy, positioning, messaging, and all creative assets. They will be responsible for building the GTM strategy and execution plan as Messenger builds towards end-to-end encryption. They will also manage one team member.

Success in this role means leading the team to develop breakthrough marketing initiatives that connect Messenger’s users to our privacy and integrity products - helping people understand how to keep their experience safe and private on Messenger, controls available to them, and how to get help when they need it. The right person can drive both strategy and execution, is analytical and creative, and cares deeply about Messenger’s mission to build a universal way for people to connect and be closer together. They will have a successful track record of launching and scaling mass-market consumer products, services, and features that people cannot live without for a range of consumer brands. They will be highly collaborative, working effectively and efficiently with all functions, particularly product and engineering leaders. The successful candidate will be a teacher and communicator, having strong experience in people management, coaching, and mentoring.

This is a full-time position based at our headquarters in Menlo Park.
RESPONSIBILITIES

    Understand consumer perception and behavior by working with Research & Analytics
  •  
     
    Generate quantitative and qualitative insights to influence communications strategy and inform go-to-market plans/product positioning so what we're building adds the most possible value to the end consumer
  •  
     
    Create effective go-to-market plans considering value proposition, target audiences, competitive landscapes, and other factors by collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to determine effective launch strategy and communications sequencing
  •  
     
    Build relationships with cross-functional leadership team to get buy in on project plans and ideas
  •  
     
    Lead and collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders (including Product, Research, PR, Design, Engineering, Analytics, Media Planning, Creative and more) to deliver world-class launches and marketing programs
  •  
     
    Develop external-facing narratives and strategies to increase user awareness and improve understanding. Partner with Communications/PR and Integrated Marketing/Advertising teams to bring to market

    Lead market assessment, quantitative analysis, qualitative feedback and represent the user internally with Product Management and Engineering
  •  
     
    Tackle complex challenges with a strategic mindset and create thoughtful recommendations and action plans for solving them with product and cross-functional leadership

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  •  
     
    10+ years of experience in marketing with a consumer focus
  •  
     
    5+ years experience working in a Consumer Product Marketing or Consumer Marketing capacity
  •  
     
    Experience leading and developing performing teams
  •  
     
    Experience partnering with product management and/or engineering to represent marketing requirements
  •  
     
    Experience constructing go-to-market strategy and creative briefs, providing feedback and delivering creative with stories
  •  
     
    Experience working with cross-functional teams to drive ongoing lifecycle/engagement marketing
  •  
     
    Bachelor's Degree in Business, Marketing, or Policy

    MBA

    Mobile app marketing experience
  •  
     
    Experience in safety, privacy, and trust areas of tech or related industries

    Experience working at the intersection of policy and product with the ability to navigate ambiguity and complexity in developing marketing strategy

    Heavy user of messaging apps

    Experience with consumer-focused communications or social media products

    Effective communication experience

    High attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple, competing priorities simultaneously
