Facebook is seeking a Technical Program Management Leader for Infrastructure Products. We are looking for candidates who share our passion for tackling complexity head-on, to help build platforms that can scale through multiple orders of magnitude, while building and supporting a world class team of Technical Program Managers. The core responsibility of this leader would be to support growth and development of Technical Program Managers as they drive planning, prioritization and program management to deliver the best in Facebook products.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in general infrastructure, machine learning, storage, caching, network and delivery systems as well as good experience in product management for complex platforms similar to Facebook, Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp and Oculus. The candidate will also bring a good balance of both deep technical and program expertise with a mindset and that can drive results with agility and leadership. The candidate should also have experience in supporting, developing and growing teams. Additionally, they will have experience working with data (analytics/insights experience, knowledge of database query languages, and/or broad experience in using data for product decision making), and the ability to build influence by example.

Relevant experience is important, but ultimately less than your demonstrated abilities and attitude. Facebook Infrastructure is constantly redefining what is possible, and we need Technical Program Managers who can do the same. This is a full-time position based in our main office in Menlo Park and will report to the Director of Technical Program Manager.

GROUP TECHNICAL PROGRAM MANAGER, INFRA PRODUCT RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build: the operational backbone for a Product, ensure that it fits within Infrastructure dimensions
  • drive the organization and cadence of work for every product and infra area.
  • Lead: functional and technical delivery of team, org, and company-wide initiatives from Idea-to-Customer. Deliver with radical transparency. Be the “Go To” in leadership, transparency and visibility for entire teams that support Engineering and Product organizations.
  • Drive: 90+ people across multiple teams to stay focused and moving forward on strategic goals while you aggressively manage dependencies and remove obstacles that stand between your team and business & customer success.
  • See: around corners and anticipate risks. Find and resolve the issues before they become blockers.

  • Innovate: and contribute to the evolution of Program Management methodology and evolve communications to accelerate cross team/organization collaboration.
  • Manage cross-functional integrity infrastructure engineering programs.
  • Help define the roadmap and long-term strategy of the teams that you are working with.
  • Partner with key infrastructure groups & production engineers, scientists & analysts across the company to understand and anticipate their needs.
  • Forge partnerships with the Infrastructure and Product teams to collaboratively solve hardware/software problems.
  • Articulate the technology, requirements, goals and milestones of your team.
  • Bring a strong sense of execution and ownership to the team.
  • Build highly scalable, performant and reliable systems and infrastructure.
  • Responsible for hiring, mentoring and developing the best TPM talent.
  • Define and own key metrics and key performance indicators.
  • Responsible for people management of a team, providing performance reviews, continual feedback, coaching and career growth for direct reports.
  • Manage 3 or more direct reports.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of software engineering, systems engineering or technical product/program management experience.
  • 3+ years of experience as a People Manager.
  • Hands-on experience being a Technical Program Leader across organizations.
  • Track record of successfully implementing and managing infrastructure programs familiarity with the software as a service business model and its platform product development lifecycle.
  • Agile in domain knowledge to push & pull the right optimization levers whenever needed.
  • Proven appreciation for the Customer mindset. Proven experience thinking Customer-first, successful track record in building strategies and solutions to meet Customer needs through a data driven approach.
  • Organizational, communication, interpersonal, relationship building skills conducive to collaboration, experience working well in a cross-functional, matrix management environment consisting of software engineering, infrastructure, product management and business operations.
  • Experience managing an organization of program or product managers, including building and growing the team.
  • Experience working with clients to flesh out requirement sets for infrastructure.
  • Experience moving technical or engineering programs or products from inception to delivery, and experience articulating the impact using metrics, growth examples, return, etc.
  • Experience structuring an organization that optimizes for execution, including attracting talent and building out gaps in the existing team.
  • Communication experience and experience working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products.
  • Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience.
  • Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems.
  • Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones. Experience with external facing production systems for high traffic websites and services.
  • Technical knowledge and/or experience in Infrastructure/Backend systems as well as Integrity problems and solutions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in product sense including meeting the demands of the target market, ranking feature importance, managing complexity and measuring product success.
  • Experience in technical and market insight applied to definition of product MVP and prioritization of engineering backlog.
  • Web or Internet start-up environment and technical infrastructure management experience.
  • Experience with operating system internals, databases, filesystems, networking and writing code.
  • Experience with machine learning and AI detection systems.
