Materials Engineering Intern - Component Optimization

QuantumScape is looking for a summer intern in the field of inorganic chemistry, materials science or ceramic science. This individual will work closely with research scientists to assess the impact of form factor on physical degradation modes in the anode component of a solid state battery.
The successful candidate will possess a range of skills including competence in experimental planning & execution and good knowledge of material characterization techniques. The project will require significant attention to detail and strong analytical and reasoning competence.
This role will provide experience in a fast paced start-up R&D environment and where experimental results can have direct and immediate impact.

As a member of the analytical team, you will help us develop models and methods for analyzing data output by advanced characterization and metrology tools.
Experience and education
Currently in Junior or Sophomore year of college in an engineering discipline
Experience in physical chemistry or material science laboratory environments.
Basic knowledge of Lithium battery operation and underlying electro-chemical principles.
Experience in physical, chemical and/or optical materials characterization methods.
Comfortable preparing scientific reports and delivering presentations to a technical audience
