QuantumScape is seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our growing team.
We are a stealth start-up energy storage technology company, located in San Jose, California working on a fundamental disruption in the field of energy storage. We seek to change the paradigm in energy storage by developing a completely new class of electrical energy storage device. If successful, the technology could revolutionize the industry. This is an opportunity for a strong mechanical engineering student interested in mechanical design with a passion for building things. Join us on the hardware engineering team as we design and build custom hardware solutions to tackle a wide variety of R&D problems in a fast and dynamic environment.
In this role you will have the opportunity to own several of your own projects and will be responsible for driving them through all stages of the design process. You will work closely with the other members of the hardware team to iterate on designs and will conduct design reviews with team members and other internal customers. In addition to owning the design, you will also get your hands dirty as you build, test and trouble shoot your designs.
Pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
3D Modeling with CAD software such as SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor.
Strong technical communication skills.
Ability to work hands on building hardware and solving issues.
Self starter, adept at working both within a team and independently.
Project management skills.
Familiarity with basic machine shop tools (lathe, drill press, etc.) for on the fly modifications.
Mechanical design experience is preferred.
