Groupon's Core Infrastructure Engineering teams are the stealth heroes of Groupon's success story. Thousands of people need to feel confident that their tools work, and that's where we shine.

 

You, as a member of the Infrastructure Engineering Team, are responsible for supporting, maintaining, building and operating Core Services which other Teams throughout Groupon use to create and provide Production Cloud and On Prem Services.

You’ll spend time on the following:

  • You will ensure that the Groupon Platform is resilient and healthy by administering Linux systems, providing a great User Experience.
  • Research and evangelize AWS best practices to optimize the platform’s reliability by designing/ implementing tools using Kubernetes, Terraform, S3, EC2, Fargate and ELB
  • Leveraging the most advanced monitoring tools to Identify, diagnose and resolve issues on a global platform impacting millions of customers 
  • Design and develop new tools, automate releases and repetitive tasks showcasing your advanced scripting skills
  • Drive standardization and good practices based on your experience and knowledge.
  • Promote and foster an open source/inner source culture at Groupon
  • Support core infrastructure services by participating on a team call rotation, as well as troubleshooting and services' improvement sessions.


We’re excited about you if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 3 years’ experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving Linux technologies in a production environment.
  • At least 3 years’ experience automating configurations on production environments.
  • At least 2 years’ experience supporting an AWS production environment that includes S3, EC2, Fargate and ELB
  • At least 3  years’ experience using monitoring applications such as Nagios, or PagerDuty 
  • At least 2 years’ experience creating scripts to automate repetitive processes  
  • A big plus if you have experience configuring and deploying Ansible, Terraform, and Puppet
  • A big plus if you have AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate certification 
  • A big plus if you have AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Associate certification 
  • A big plus if you have experience troubleshooting, deploying upgrades and resolving issues with Kubernetes or Docker
  • A big plus if you have experience scripting in Python, Go, or Ruby
  • A big plus if you have BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Engineering
