Senior Software Engineer, Android at Zillow

As a member of the Zillow Group Mobile Engineering Team, you will be a part of a highly engaging atmosphere that includes deep collaboration with the Product and Design teams! In this role, you will push the boundaries of mobile engineering to reach our 195 million users across Zillow Group brands such as Zillow, Trulia, Premier Agent and dotloop. We offer a compelling technology stack that includes Android JetPack, Kotlin, GraphQL, Wear OS, RxJava, Dagger, rigorous test automation, and robust CI/CD tooling.

About the role

As a Senior Software Engineer at Zillow Group Mobile Engineering, your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Being an advocate for mobile development best practices
  • Crafting the future of ZG’s next mobile app development strategy
  • Building resilient and scalable applications with strong architecture/design and production level quality
  • Designing, developing, and unit/UI testing large-scaled mobile applications
  • Collaborating with multi-functional teams to define, design, and deliver critical features
  • Proactively anticipating and resolving potential quality issues
  • Actively contributing to code reviews and Root Cause Analysis sessions
  • Rapid prototyping and collaborating to innovate in real estate transactions and shopping


  • Proven understanding of Kotlin, Java and building Android applications
  • Broad experience with Android SDK and architecture components such as Jetpack
  • Strong experience profiling for optimizing performance and resource utilization
  • Understanding of clean architecture and design patterns such as MVP, MVVM
  • Comfortable providing technical leadership and mentoring to more junior engineers

Who you are

  • BS and/or MS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • You have experience in developing mobile software applications
  • You strive for continuous improvement and engineering excellence
  • You effectively communicate across teams and product stakeholders
