The Nutanix Insights team focuses on building Big Data Infrastructure to derive insights from data collected from Data Centers across our customer base. These insights will drive the efforts towards Data Center optimization, Dedicated support and auto-remediation, Operations and Engineering Process optimizations and product features.

Nutanix Insights team is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to build intuitive models to provide insights to our business. The ideal team member will be able think outside of the box and should have a real passion for building analytics solutions to enable business partners to make sensitive and critical business decisions. Responsibilities

  • Define relevant machine learning problems and effective criteria for evaluating success based on provided data and application scenario.
  • Develop scalable solutions based on state-of-the-art machine learning and AI methodologies.
  • Develop prototypes, product and conduct experiments to evaluate the performance of ML/AI architectures/algorithms.
  • Write well-structured and re-usable code.
  • Help hire and build team of machine learning/AI engineers.

Basic Qualifications

  • MS. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or similar quantitative fields.
  • Self starter with strong technical leadership abilities.
  • Able to work well with diverse roles such as product managers and engineers.
  • In-depth knowledge of machine learning algorithms and their applications including practical experience with and theoretical understanding of algorithms for classification, regression, clustering, and anomaly detection.
  • Deep understanding of statistics and/or applied math as a basis for choosing techniques and crafting experiments
  • Ability to implement data science pipelines and applications in a general programming language such as Python, Scala, or Java, or Spark
  • Experience with the machine learning life cycle and libraries in Python/Scala
  • Detailed knowledge of relational databases and expert at SQL.
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or C/C++ and/or Java.
  • Experience in working with numpy, scipy, scikit-learn, pandas.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills with strong capability of critical and scientific thinking.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Operation Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or similar quantitative fields with a focus in machine learning, artificial intelligence, and/or optimization.
  • Experience in deep learning, transfer learning.
  • Experience in working with one or few of these tools: Pytorch, Tensorflow, Keras, Edward, FastML.
  • Good knowledge and hands-on experience in distributed technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Spark Experience in Scala programming language.
