Software Engineer, Server Integrity at Facebook

Facebook is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Server Integrity team. We are looking for a Software Engineer that is passionate about hardware and enjoys working closely with hardware design engineers and security teams. The Server Integrity team is responsible for helping Facebook securely design, manufacture, ship and operate hardware infrastructure across corporate and production environments. This position is full-time and located in our Menlo Park office.

  • Produce platform level security requirements for new products, components, ASICs, PCB designs, firmware, and drive adoption of platform level security architectures.
  • Develop/test and deploy attestation tools and services for all platforms including hardware, firmware and kernel.
  • Work with component vendors and develop best practices for auditing supply chain.
  • Harden our servers and networks against exploitation and privilege escalation.
  • Instrument systems to enable detection of intrusions.
  • Work with business and engineering groups to provide subject matter expertise on architecture, authentication, network and systems security.
  • Conduct security assessments of hardware infrastructure to identify vulnerabilities, and recommend and prioritize remediation actions.
  • Build tools to secure our information, systems, networks, applications, and products.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience with Linux kernel.
  • 5+ years of experience scripting with PHP or Python.
  • 5+ years of experience coding with C/C++.
  • Demonstrated experience of hardware and firmware attacks and mitigations.
  • Troubleshooting and analytical experience.
  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
  • Experience working at the hardware/software interface - system firmware, bootloaders, device drivers, etc.
  • In-depth understanding of remote attestation, secure boot, and establishing roots-of-trust.
