Privacy Project Specialist at Anaplan

Our teams are working together to build meaningful and impactful products helping businesses make better decisions today for their business outcomes of tomorrow.  We are seeking a collaborative, motivated, and thoughtful privacy project specialist who has prior experience with developing and assisting in the implementation of privacy-related policies and programs. In this position you will play an essential role in supporting the company’s privacy program as it relates to engineering, security, product, and procurement organizations at a high-growth, publicly-traded enterprise software company. You will help develop and execute risk assessments, track and resolve privacy incidents, support compliance documentation and programs, and help in the day-to-day operation of Anaplan’s privacy program. A successful candidate for this role should have knowledge of privacy and data protection legal requirements, with experience supporting enterprise-wide collaborative projects. You must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. You should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trusted relationships both within and outside the department. To succeed in this role, you will need to possess and exemplify excellent business judgment and critical thinking; a high degree of accountability and a strong work ethic. 

 

This position will be based in our Minneapolis or San Francisco office, report to Anaplan’s Lead Privacy Counsel, and have the following responsibilities:

What you will do:

  • Work closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Security, and internal counsel to research, develop, and refine data protection and acceptable use policies and controls;
  • Assist with internal due diligence for purchases and partnerships in marketing, e-commerce, software, and web service providers, and assist with implementation guidance;
  • Support development of documentation and training materials for compliance with data management and privacy;
  • Respond to policy inquiries and escalations from internal teams, documenting guidance and communicating current policies in a clear and objective way;
  • Assist in monitoring key legislative and industry trends, and surface those trends to drive process, policy, or infrastructure changes;
  • Manage complicated cross-functional projects related to compliance with privacy and data protection laws, and related requirements;
  • Help build and evolve Anaplan's global Privacy Program and support positive relationships with internal teams.

You have:

  • A. or B.S. degree or equivalent project or program management experience
  • 3+ years of experience in privacy, data protection, compliance, incident or security response coordination with a legal or security team in a multi-national corporation;
  • Excellent written/verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills;
  • Experience supporting, implementing and enforcing privacy and data protection policies and controls within a global privacy program;
  • Experience prioritizing and managing multiple projects with varying deadlines;
  • Knowledge of legal, information security and privacy frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, ISO 27000);
  • Strong collaboration and partnership skills to work successfully with employees across all departments (including software developers and product managers), geographies and cultures;
  • Solid knowledge of digital technologies (e.g., social media, digital advertising, mobile apps, mobile payments), and familiarity with associated privacy and data security requirements;
  • Positive attitude, team-oriented and collaborative, and passion for your work;
  • Must be comfortable working with highly confidential information

Bonus points:

  • JD or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved institution;
  • Privacy or Security certification (e.g. CIPP, CISSP, or similar);
  • Familiarity with Anaplan products and services;
  • Sense of humor.
