About the role

Our current Zillow release processes and frameworks support multiple daily Major code Releases, frequent Hot Fixes, and oversight and management of infrastructure changes. We need a strong, experienced Release Engineer to help build on our successes and help support our growing services and product offerings. We look to increase release rates and provide more options for product teams and operations teams to get their changes and updates released as quickly and as safely as possible, in support of Operational and Business needs.   • Own and manage overall release plans
  • Be a key advocate and support for Change Management and Best Practices throughout the organization
  • Keep and maintain release stats and trend data, deployment status, and environment status
  • Be able to summarize and evaluate key site metrics and provide guidance and direction for release and follow-on stability
  • Coordinate implementations and deployments of moderate to high complexity business solutions
  • Successfully coordinate deployments of software business applications in production to ensure on time, agile release delivery
  • Monitor the deployment team for a successful production deployment. Provide Implementation status updates to all partners
  • Triage and troubleshoot in real time site stability issues that result from production changes
  • Manage resources as needed for production releases
  • Champion and push for site critical changes that impact operational stability
  • Perform a wide variety of administrative duties in support of production environments
  • Communicate with other Operations groups to ensure effective interaction across the organization
  • Produce critical metrics to measure success and identify areas of improvements for deployments
  • Participate in training co-workers in technical operations, new releases and functionality of new or existing business applications

Who you are

  • At least 3 years experience running release for a multi tiered, and highly available site and/or service
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Proven experience with SDLC in an Agile development process environment. Experience with AWS and its technologies is a plus
  • 3+ years experience with Unix/Linux/MSSQL system
  • Good communication skills
  • Self-starter with proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Work in a fast-paced, business-critical areas
  • Experience in supporting
