About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and can-do Senior Accountant to join the Homes Accounting team.  The team is responsible for the delivery of accurate and timely financial information to management, business partners, and stakeholders throughout the organization.  This role will focus on our Homes Inventory Accounting processes including working closely with our business partners to support complex calculations and ensuring the successful execution of inventory accounting processes. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, has excellent analytical skills, and has the ability to take on complex tasks. This role will be highly collaborative with business partners across the broader Accounting/Finance Group and the Zillow Offers business.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and/or review journal entries and account reconciliations as part of the month-end close process
  • Prepare and/or review complex calculations surrounding inventory life cycle including capitalized labor rates and inventory valuation
  • Analyze financial data and report financial results back to management
  • Drive process improvement projects to streamline and automate manual workflows
  • Build operational and internal control processes for new and evolving aspects of the business
  • Provide support to finance management and other internal business partners, including ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects
  • Assist with quarterly and annual audit requests from our external auditors

Who you are

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 4+ years’ experience in public accounting, mid-to-large sized tech/real estate company or high-growth company
  • Experience with Inventory Accounting preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; capable of efficiently analyzing large amounts of data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present findings and interact at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Able to multi-task and excel in a fast-paced, rapidly-evolving and data driven organization
  • Audit or Internal Audit experience is desirable
  • CPA preferred, with a strong understanding of US GAAP
