Acquisitions Manager at Zillow

Responsible for verification of automated valuation pricing, initial pricing & final pricing of acquisitions and sales pricing/days on market monitoring of dispositions. Works closely with Market Teams to hone in pricing, evaluate ROI analysis of upgrades and gather local intel on market conditions. Works closely with Home Advisors on any price adjustments during diligence or closing process of acquisitions and dispositions.

About the role

Zillow is looking for a Manager of Acquisitions/Underwriting for the new Zillow Offers business in our Dallas office. The position will be responsible for managing and leading team members. Coach analysts to underwrite property level P&Ls for single-family homes. You will work cross-functionally with the Seattle pricing and data science team to refine, scale and automate the process. You will collaborate with multiple departments to ensure the continual accuracy of the underwriting process.

You will:

  • You will create property P&L underwriting practices
  • You will lead, build, and train a team of underwriting analysts in a dynamic environment
  • You will contribute to management strategy meetings to foster interdepartmental interaction and overall business growth and success
  • You will oversee the initial sign off on offers to home sellers (acquisitions)
  • You will evaluate and adjust underwriting assumptions based on operational and market performance
  • You will aggregate feedback from field teams and validate with data driven metrics
  • You will identify inefficiencies and be able participate in special projects, if needed
  • Travel 10 - 20% of the time for new market research

Who you are

  • 7-10 years of related management and/or real estate related experience
  • Proficient understanding of real estate investment metrics
  • Robust analytical capabilities including ability to model and work with technology solutions
  • Detailed understanding of key business drivers and operations affecting asset level performance
  • Ability to diagnose underwriting variances to actual performance and connect with business unit owners to make proper adjustments
  • Capability to prioritize high volumes of transactions with short deadlines
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • May require occasional weekends and/or flexible work schedules
