Senior Development Engineer for DSP Development – Nuremberg, Germany

Infinera is seeking a person experienced, with a track record in designing algorithms for low power, high performance coherent transceivers. 

The candidate will be part of a DSP algorithm design team, supporting ASIC development, verification and support activities. The application is a high throughput, low power dissipation modules for sub-carrier transmission in optical fibre communications systems. 

Your Key Responsibilities Would Include:

  • DSP Algorithm design and verification.
  • Optical system simulations.
  • Laboratory investigations and measurements.
  • Integration and product bring-up support.

Education & Experience Necessary For Success:

Must have working knowledge in the following areas:

  • Coherent optical communication techniques.
  • Optical line-systems, ROADMS, optical amplifiers, lasers, photo-receivers
  • Optical fibre/transceiver impairments and noise processes in optical systems.
  • DSP filter design, MIMO filtering, CD compensation.
  • Carrier phase recovery, clock timing recovery
  • Highspeed ADC, DACs.

Education and skills

  • Ph.D. in Engineering or applied Physics
  • 5+ years of experience as indicated in the following areas:
  • Must understand ASIC implementation involving parallelism and high throughput, fixed point arithmetic, and tradeoffs between performance and power dissipation.
  • Experience in ASIC design, timing closure and low-power architectures is beneficial.
  • Must be strong in Matlab, C and C++ coding
  • Good laboratory skills and experience in using optical components and test-equipment.
  • Experience with high-speed electrical and optical components.
  • Must have great inter-personal working styles, and strong independent work ethic, and good communication skills
