We manage all analytics and data processing services both in our data centers and in the cloud. We offer data products where privacy and data protection are designed into the product offering.The Platform Product organization is a critical team that we’ve assembled recently to provide direction and a product lens on all the work the platform organization does at Twitter, from data to analytics, storage to data centers, graph technologies, to networking and data centers. With every product we ship to our internal customers, we provide an enabling environment for the consumer and revenue team to build exciting experiences for our customers. Areas of responsibility include:• developing a vision for data platform that supports the mission of Twitter of serving the public conversation• advising on new feature development, product roadmaps, research, and other key strategic initiatives• providing a particular focus on delivering new capabilities to our product managers• proactively identifying potential gaps/risk areas and opportunities for driving cross-functional collaboration in these areas, such as developing product offering;• creating aspirational goals and partnering closely with consumer and revenue Product and Engineering to identify and execute on a roadmap that unlock capabilities for our partner organizationsBy working together, we create the most capable and cost-efficient platform in an innovative, experiment-rich, and fast-paced environment.What You’ll DoAs Director of Product for the Data Platform, you’ll actively develop a deep understanding of Twitter's products and lead the team to ensure the timely and incisive coverage of product initiatives across the company and develop a comprehensive, cohesive vision for a product portfolio that fosters a data mindset. You will be responsible for:• defining and driving the company initiative centered on Understanding, identify the strategic direction, priorities, and work in support of both the Platform organization and company goals;• deepening the Data Platform’s working relationship with the Consumer and Revenue Product leadership and PMs to ensure product roadmaps enable innovation and critical data-centric thinking;• cultivating partnerships with teams working across the whole stack from data engineering, to SRE, to client infrastructure teams responsible for reliable logging, data science teams delivering better notebook solutions and experiment teams enabling better decision making for our PMs, while strengthening flows of communication and dialogue;• collaborating cross-functionally with our Legal, Public Policy, and Communications teams on product launches;• considering both organic and non-organic opportunities and being opinionated about cost/benefit tradeoffs• building a growing team of direct reports (Product Managers) through diligent hiring, direct mentoring, and a comprehensive staff development plan;• overseeing the team’s performance and eliminating blockers that may prevent Product Manager from executing on their roadmap and shipping product;• marketing internally with the team the set of solutions, making sure that partner organizations are aware of the offered capabilities and can lean in on future features;• keeping engineering at a high level of efficiency by removing roadblocks, ruthlessly prioritizing feature set and product development and driving accountability on execution and delivery datesYou will report directly to Richard Rabbat, Head of Product, Platform.Who You Are: • You obsess over building products people love.• You have a track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams to ship great enterprise products. • You have experience building an understanding of customers, and rapidly iterating to figure out how to serve their needs and solve their problems (via rapid prototyping, concept testing, experimentation, etc) • You have a creative and entrepreneurial spirit, are a self starter and an analytical thinker. • You care. You believe Twitter should obsess about data so the organization makes data-driven decisions. Your curiosity drives you to understand the impact that product changes may have on Twitter’s diverse customer base and makes you a natural advocate for their needs.• You are a strategic thinker and valued collaborator; you are just as comfortable strategizing and leading as you are diving into the details of product work when circumstances require it.• You facilitate critical conversations with ease; you have no trouble working with and juggling the (at times) competing priorities of multiple teams operating in different countries.• You approach problems with multiple solutions in mind, and quickly pivot when needed to better account for newly-discovered data and insight.• You have an entrepreneurial mindset and are flexible, self-motivated, dedicated, and hard-working. You customize your communication style based on your audience and easily switch between verbal and written communication as needed.• You are open to international travel and have an appreciation and respect for the norms of cultures other than your own.Basic requirements• 10+ years of experience driving and implementing policy, process redesign, project/program management, or management consulting• 8+ years of experience leading teams, preferably in multi-site organizations. Bonus: Has held leadership roles that require extensive collaboration with third parties, partners, and teams whose short-term priorities may not be aligned with yours.• Exceptional interpersonal skills; excels at providing balanced, actionable feedback to influence decision-making without direct managerial authority.• Strong process modeling and problem-solving capabilities. Able to document and analyze the flow of information between systems, quickly grasps how product settings and features interact to impact customer experience, and promptly propose elegant, creative solutions to address product and customer needs.• Exceptional written and oral communication skills; able to express complex issues using clear, customer-focused language that is tailored to the intended audience.• Experience working with quantitative and qualitative data, including research findings, to support recommendations.• Sound business judgment and critical thinking skillsPreferred qualifications• Familiarity with the data platforms at the scale of Twitter.• Experience working on products that have a multi-regional or global impact.• Built 0 to 1 products in data processing and/or data analytics
