As a Director of Product/Program Management, you regularly handle the oversight of projects that do not neatly fit within the organizational chart or that fall between departmental areas of responsibility. You must be extraordinarily nimble in helping meet timely business needs or gaps in leadership and accountability. Facebook is constantly redefining what is possible, and we need people that can do the same. This is a full-time position based in our office in Menlo Park and will report to the VP of Product Management in Central Products. Central Products builds solutions for problems that are common to the Family of Apps and/or shared across the company.

Director of Product/Program Management, Special Projects Responsibilities
  • Manage and grow a team of Product Managers, Technical Program Managers and Program Managers
  • Tracking high priority initiatives for the executive and identifying any obstacles to completion
  • Communicating initiative status to the executive, pulling in other executives or team members as necessary
  • Pulling together and managing project teams that require input from multiple areas within the company
  • Identifying and taking on ad hoc strategic projects
  • Defining and researching new ideas and business opportunities
  • Building out frameworks and blueprints for new team units and/or initiatives
  • Providing decision support through data gathering, information analyzing, and presenting considerations to relevant stakeholders
  • Provide hands-on program management during analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, and post implementation phases
  • Perform risk management and change management on projects
  • Drive internal and external process improvements across multiple teams and functions
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of software engineering, systems engineering or technical product/program management experience
  • Experience delivering tech programs or products from inception to delivery
  • Knowledge of user needs, gathering requirements, and defining scope
  • Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking, and thought leadership
  • Communication experience and experience working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products
  • Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience
  • Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones
Preferred Qualifications
  • Communication and leadership experience, with experience initiating and driving projects
  • Organizational and coordination skills along with multi-tasking capabilities to get things done in a fast-paced environment
  • Extremely versatile, dedicated to efficient productivity
  • Experience planning and leading strategic initiatives
  • Nimble with a focus on developing creative solutions
