Search at Mapbox

Search is responsible for the services that process and deliver search location data and interactivity to our customers. Search provides street, address, and place search for countries all over the globe, in many different languages, for apps like The New York Times, . Search is a critical component to our customers’ applications, and a major partner to the Maps and Navigation organizations at Mapbox. Whether you’re trying to find a place among the vast amount of data on a global map, or to find the exact location of a venue a few miles down the road, search is in the critical path of so many of our customers’ experiences.
 
The POI Search team owns our search engine for places of interest, like like coffee shops, restaurants, stadiums, categories, etc. 
 

What You’ll Do

  • You’ll be a founding member of a new team building, scaling, and driving adoption of POI-focused search services. You’ll set and deliver on a roadmap that drives positive outcomes for our customers and their millions of end users across key industries like logistics and transportation.
  • Partner closely with Mapbox’s  internal data team (Geodata) to leverage an end to end understanding of points of interest all the way from data pipeline to end-user search to ultimately deliver an industry-leading POI Search experience 
  • Establish, track, and iterate on operational metrics for to ensure the team is delivering products that satisfying customer requirements including: Determining which metrics are important, enabling operational simplicity (discoverability to response) and the overall SRE duties for system health
  • Be hands-on in your team’s day to day project management and sprint planning
  • Manage and develop the team through hiring, retaining, mentoring, and continually building your team’s reports skills, either through your own guidance or by proactively finding them mentors
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, diversity, and data-driven decisions on the team
