Public Policy Associate - Paris at Twitter

Twitter is a world-wide communications platform that is changing how people interact and communicate at home and at work. The Twitter @Policy team focuses on public policy issues presented by the continuing spread of digital technology and web-based communications services around the world. These issues range from freedom of expression, online safety, intellectual property, copyright, privacy, and Internet freedom.

 

We act as Twitter’s ambassadors to government policymakers, regulators, and civil society groups on public policy issues. We are the eyes and ears and, where appropriate, the voice for Twitter with government officials. In addition, we serve as the @Gov team & showcase the use of Twitter for civic purposes as well as the @TwitterForGood team, providing guidance, resources, and support for Twitter’s Corporate Philanthropy mission, including the Ads for Good program.

 

We’re hiring a Public Policy Associate to join the French @Policy team in our Paris office. 

 

As a member of the @Policy team in Paris, this is your opportunity to actively assist in the development and advocacy of public policy solutions to pressing high technology issues.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Drive projects and partnerships that demonstrate Twitter’s advocacy positions. 
  • Monitor issues of importance to Twitter in France.
  • Conduct research into tech policy issues and draft documents as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of materials and resources for engagement with policymakers, regulators and lawmakers.
  • Assist in the engagement of policymakers, regulators, lawmakers, and civil society groups.
  • Help identify opportunities to ensure that key government, political and civil society representatives and organisations understand and make best use of Twitter.
  • Help implement our corporate philanthropy programme through the delivery of events and effective administration of our Ads for Good programme.
  • Coordinate with Twitter colleagues across other teams and provide updates for them on policy developments.

 

Skills and experience:

  • 2+ years relevant experience
  • Strong academic background
  • A keen interest in Twitter and ideally, proficiency with the Twitter service
  • A knowledge of European policies and politics and regulation important to Twitter
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills
  • Professional fluency in English
  • Knowledge of Keynote, PowerPoint, and other presentation programs
  • A good sense of humour and perspective will help immensely
