Groupon's Consumer Web team is a central part of the core customer experience at Groupon. You will lead a team of developers who work on projects and codebases that directly impact the user experience globally. As a manager, you will lead projects and foster engineering excellence as we challenge the status quo and take on large-scale problems. You will be part of a team that motivates one another, learns together, and never lets a cat gif go unnoticed. You will be responsible for continually fostering a culture of inclusion, diversity and respect among the teams. As a leader, you will partner with product owners, designers and data analysts to develop convincing product roadmaps and provide technical guidance to conversations.

You’ll spend time on the following:
Effectively lead a front-end development team while using your highly-technical skills as a hands-on software architect on Web development.
Deliver high-quality and customer-oriented solutions for the Groupon Web platform following weekly release processes.
Hire, develop, grow and retain great engineering talent.
Engage in technical discussions as a subject matter expert, and have strategic influence with the product, business stakeholders and other engineering teams to design and develop new consumer experiences.
Partner with product owners, designers, and business stakeholders to build team’s roadmaps.
Help the team improve efficiency, quality and speed of their development processes.
Encourage a data-driven culture to improve the availability, stability, monitoring and security of the consumer applications and in-house systems to help scale the business.
Collaborate with other engineering teams to drive leverage and technical craftsmanship in the larger engineering organization.
Foster a culture of inclusion, diversity, respect and fun that continues making Groupon a great place to work.
Have 1-1 coaching and feedback sessions with your team and stakeholders to help each other grow.
Help build our technical execution plans, processes and reports, and ensure we hit all goals and expectations.
We’re excited about you if you have:
5-7 years of experience in software design and front-end development.
1-3 years of experience in leading complex, technically-challenging, cross-functional software oriented projects from inception to delivery as a manager or tech lead with a BS or MS in computer science (or equivalent experience).
Experience coaching, mentoring and developing staff including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
Track record of building and shipping new customer and merchant experiences.
Good understanding of Agile methodologies and Project Management techniques.
Experience implementing techniques to improve page performance and SEO.
Passion for leading teams and setting the vision.
Great articulation skills and stakeholder management experience.
An interest in understanding the “why,” and a desire to pull the thread to understand how things work.
