Facebook is seeking a Postdoctoral Applied Researcher to help us address the challenges we face in the cluster management area. Individuals in this role are expected to be recognized experts in the broad systems area, and to be able to translate their research ideas into practice. Term length will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Postdoctoral Applied Researcher, Cluster Management (PhD) Responsibilities
  • Collaborate on research to advance the state-of-the-art in cluster management, including resource allocation in data centers, resource control and isolation in Linux, and improving machine utilization at Facebook.
  • Develop production systems to enhance Facebook's cluster management capabilities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Track record of publications that demonstrate experience in the systems area.
  • Experience translating research ideas into working systems.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Multiple first-author publications at top-tier systems conferences.
  • Experience doing hands-on development of complex systems.
