Pinterest’s Traffic team is seeking a software engineer to build and run our large-scale web production network to ensure Pinterest’s site reliability. You’ll design, build, and maintain our Pinner-to-Pinterest and Service-to-Service Traffic management systems and infrastructure that handle billions of page views per month.

What you’ll do

  • Design, implement and deliver software and infrastructure to improve the scalability, availability, and efficiency of traffic management services
  • Implement and integrate next generation protocols like HTTP/3
  • Optimize CDN selection based on availability, performance, and cost
  • Modify HTTP caching configuration to ensure high cache hit rates for Image and Video content globally
  • Influence and create new designs, architectures, standards, and methods for large-scale distributed systems, with a focus on performance
  • Collaborate with the performance team on new product features and performance regressions
  • Perform deep dives into performance of services, partnering with cross-functional software and systems engineers to scale and speed up traffic management platforms and technologies

What we’re looking for:

  • 4+ years of relevant industry experience 
  • Experience with Layer 4 load balancers and Layer 7 routers in high scale environments
  • Proficient in any of Python, Go, C++, Javascript
  • Experience developing and debugging networking protocols (HTTP, SSL, and TCP)
  • Strong knowledge of Linux
