WHAT WE DO

The Postmates Merchant team is looking for a superstar to forge and expand our relationships with strategically important top brands nation-wide and drive significant value for the company. As our Sr. Merchant Business Development Manager you will expand Postmates’ footprint with the top 500 restaurant merchants as well as merchants in emerging new categories across the US. The ideal candidate is an experienced, highly motivated self-starter with an extreme focus on sourcing and closing new business. They understand the importance of building strong and lasting strategic relationships with the country’s largest restaurant chains. 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Seek and establish relationships with C-Level executives and decision makers at top restaurant chains and their franchisees
  • Develop and lead the process of negotiating & closing deals with restaurant chains and large franchise holding companies
  • Oversee the work of franchise sales team reps to accelerate franchise location sign-ups
  • Prioritize and evaluate opportunities based on strategic and financial criteria
  • Oversee and guide internal teams across multiple departments to roll out new merchants across both corporate and franchise locations
  • Represent Postmates at industry and merchant events
  • Work cross-functionally with our Product, Engineering, Account Management and Sales teams to create the processes and solutions that ensure merchants have the best possible experience when joining the Postmates platform
  • Keep informed with current industry trends and opportunities/ challenges within the restaurant industry as a whole. Use this key knowledge to drive business strategy while building and expanding our Postmates’ relationships with our merchants
  • Travel to merchant pitches and industry events 30%+ of the time

 

OUR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years in business development or sales leadership role
  • Experience selling to and working with multi-billion dollar organizations
  • C-Level presence with a deal closing history
  • Product knowledge and technical competencies. Ability to work with engineers and product leaders to craft solutions
  • Comfortable concurrently managing multiple complex transactions on short time horizons
  • Business mindset with ability to understand both financial and strategic aspects of a deal
  • Outstanding communication skills
