Join our industry-leading Economic Research team bringing innovative analysis, creativity and excellence to the U.S. housing market. We create, productionalize, analyze, and share a full suite of housing data products, analysis, and forecasts for an audience inside and outside of Zillow. Our work contextualizes Zillow’s unparalleled living database of all homes and hundreds of millions of customers to provide insight to everyday consumers and open data to hundreds of researchers and policymakers across the country. About the role

As a Sr. Software Development Manager, you will oversee data production and publication pipelines, forecasting model pipelines, as well as tool and dashboard development for the Economic Data & Product Team. This manager must be passionate about application development and coaching a team of software engineers. The role requires a strong architectural mindset and a good sense for project and feature scope. Additionally, the manager will work cross functionally with data engineering, machine learning, and product development.


Responsibilities for this role include:


Managing a team of 5+ software engineers

Defining a vision for the engineering backbone of our data products and forecasts

Providing feedback on design components

Prioritizing tasks including customer requests and backlogs

Removing roadblocks (operational/cross-team/hardware/access)

Creating clarity from ambiguous requirements

Who you are

Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field

5+ years of software development experience with proficiency in Python strongly preferred

3+ years of people management experience, preferably having managed software engineers of different levels

Experience with Cloud Services (AWS/Azure), Spark, Kubernetes, and EKS preferred

Experience working with Economists, Applied Scientists, or in a research environment is a plus
