We believe in differentiating our capital.
The Mobile Agent team at New Relic builds the instrumentation libraries that mobile app developers use to monitor their software. The agent sends telemetry and mobile data back to New Relic to be analyzed, visualized, and understood to help app developers find problems, be alerted to errors, and improve performance. As an agent engineer, you'll help your peers build and maintain our latest agents for the iOS, Android, and hybrid development environments. Your team's work has a direct impact on our customers' abilities to observe and improve their apps.
What You’ll Do
Build SDKs and tools app devs will rely on. Come build the next generation of lightweight open standards based agents. Create efficient protocols and networking capabilities to communicate telemetry to ingest backends so it can be quickly processed and acted upon by our users.
Deliver. You will be collaborating on highly technical, complex projects. You’ll be responsible for the technical planning, implementation, test, and support of your work. You can expect to work with strong partners from architecture, reliability, design and product.
This particular position requires 4+ years of software engineering experience building, shipping, and monitoring mobile apps in iOS (Swift), Android (Kotlin), or both, using the latest standard development environments.
You are curious about hybrid environments like ReactNative, Xamerin, etc.
Having technical experience in building modern mobile software — especially utilizing shared code from others — is crucial. You should have hands on experience building and operating resilient apps that have been deployed at scale with some kind of telemetry/metrics/crash reporting capabilities.
You enjoy delivering to customers, continually, and in small increments.
You value high iteration speed, low cycle times, a focus on the actual problems we're solving for our customers, good communication and collaboration, and improving the people around us.
You have worked on open source software as a contributor or key community member. We're doing more and more of our work in an open manner and you should be comfortable working within the public sphere.
You really thrive on change. Although the company is doing well and work/life balance is something we highly value and support at New Relic, we’re a growing company, and that means things change a lot here. You receive a lot of support, but you will see the job evolve every six months, so you should flourish with this kind of environment.
You enjoy mentoring others.
Please note that visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
We are excited to consider a remote senior software engineer for this role in the Pacific Standard Time zone. If you are not in the PST zone you must be willing to work within our normal office hours.
