The Manager, Accounts Payable manager promotes a strong customer service orientation, while ensuring appropriate internal controls against fraud, abuse, waste or misuse of funds. The role ensures compliance with the organization’s policies and procedures, as well as driving new policies and procedures. This Manager will be accountable to take an end to end process approach, collaborating with upstream functions at various levels to solve complex problems, as well as use external information and best practices to drive results. They will create the long- and short-term plan for the Account payable function, creating and implementing scalable processes, and driving system automation.
Leads all areas of A/P day to day process, as well as driving process change across the department and across the end to end process, through working and influencing cross functionally.
Drives process improvements and system automation.
Reviews records of amounts owed and ensures oversight of prompt payment of invoices featuring discounts advantageous to the organization.
Directs and leads Accounts Payable team toward a customer service-oriented approach.
Reviews and approves accounts payable ledger and other related accounting reports.
Establishes and ensures work standards are implemented by the team.
Drives leadership from within the team for change recommendations and implementation methods or procedures to improve the efficiency of the accounts payable function.
Resolves escalated payment issues.
Engages in the typical leadership responsibilities including short and long term within and outside of the department.
Help develop performance standard measurements, monthly tracking of key metrics, organizing a team for success, integrating collaborative and customer service oriented behaviors, and controlling efficient and effective A/P practices.
Has leadership responsibility involving staffing, coaching and delivering quarterly feedback
Additional duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance or related field.
A minimum of 5 years related experience in financial management, finance operations, reporting, forecasting, analysis, of which a minimum of 3 years have been spent managing/supervising the A/P function.
Must have large ERP AP system experience, as well as 1099 filing experience.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent verbal/written communication skills.
Ability to work in a complex and changing environment to solve complex problems cross functionally.
Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
Ability to work collaboratively with all departments, management levels within the company, and external stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to select, guide, develop, coach and retain a team of employees, including management level employees, supervisors and non-exempt team members.
